The End Of My Fourth Grade Year

I think what I will remember most about 4th grade is how I got my favorite teacher in my last year of elementary school. Also I love how we are the only grade that gets to go recycle each week. Also it is really fun to be the role models and have the younger kids all look up to you. Another one of the things I will remember most about fourth grade is all of the great field trips we go on like the going to the state house and the field trip where you dress up like colonists. I also love doing things like the fish bowl where we all stand around the back table and Mrs. Gerard tells us what to do. Also I will remember Mrs.Gerards famous read aloud with funny/crazy voices.

This year I think that one of the things I am most proud of is my wax museum. Also learning this much in math. I think that I have moved ahead a lot in reading to. I also feel very proud of how I only forgot to bring in my homework once in the whole year. I am also very proud of how many new friends I have made in fourth grade.

A few things I am looking forward to in middle school is how many clubs there is. I think I will join a lot of the clubs like yearbook, duct tape and skiing club. I am really excited for the cafeteria. I am very excited to not walk in lines.

Wax Museum Thoughts

My class just finished our wax museum. I was Maggie Hassan. I thought that the wax museum project was a little challenging sometimes. I think that making the poster boards is what I will remember most. I thought that writing the biography on Maggie Hassan was probably the hardest part. I think that I am also most proud of my poster board and pulling it all together.

Maggie Hassan biography

MAGGIE HASSAN’S LIFE By: Sabrina Do you want to know what famous Maggie Hassan’s life was like? She was born in Boston Massachusetts on February 27, 1958. Her real name is Margret the daughter of Margret (byers). Also the Daughter of Robert Coldwell Wood. Hassan’s father was a political scientist. She had a great childhood but just wait till her adult hood. I bet you probably want to know some of what her life is like closer to now. She attended Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School. Her husband Tomas is the principal of Philips Exeter Academy. Hassan has 2 kids. She is living in Exeter, New Hampshire. Just that’s only the very beginning of her great career. Before becoming governor of NH she got some practice with elections. Hassan worked as an attorney for Sullivan, Weinstein and Macaque. She graduated in 1979. She won to be senate 57% to 43% to Lee Quadte in 2008. Her career in public service began in 1999. That was it for any practice this became a big and amazing career. After several years of being an attorney Maggie decided to run for governor. Hassan was elected governor of NH in in 2012. She won re-election in 2014. Maggie is the 81st governor of New Hampshire. Maggie was elected vice chair after becoming esc. And she is still living as governor of NH today. She kept running for things and being elected for things. Hassan won the general election 55% of the vote. She was the second woman to be elected governor. She was elected after John lynch. That still wasn’t the end of Maggie’s career. CONSIDER CARPOOLING!

Most of the time people don’t put any effort out to ask a friend if they want to carpool. An American spends about 40 hours stuck in traffic each year blocking other cars from going. In America 50,000 people die only because of air pollution. Carpooling equals less cars on the road which reduces the nation’s dependency on oil in the future. Breathing in air pollution takes away about 1-2 years of a person’s life. If 100 people would have a carpooling option each day, more than 1,320 lbs. of carbon monoxide and 2,376,000 of carbon dioxide wouldn’t be in the air. It is not right, the amount of oil we use and air pollution in the air needs to decrease than stop.

Can you help? Think of the future. Air pollution is caused partly by the amount of pollution released by cars. The roads will also be safer if we carpool. There could be an accident on the road if there are too many cars. So many people die since so many people won’t carpool. If you have a longer ride, less cars on the road will mean less traffic. Think of how many people die the fuel that cars use. Should this go on? No it can’t.

You might not know how to help with this problem. Well let me help. If everyone had a carpooled once a day per week so much oil would be saved. If you have a long commute why not carpool. Ride or walk if you can. Take a bus instead of your car. Buses take much more people. How about take only one trip to the grocery store per week if you don’t already. Use cleaners that are environmentally safe to reduce indoor air pollution. So try it, it can’t hurt.

So you’re probably thinking if she wants me to do it why she doesn’t just do it?  Well I’ve been doing some things myself. I’ve been carpooling with a lot of people on my street. I ride my bike if I can when I’m going somewhere. I also walk places if I can. I ask people to ride their bikes some places. Or even to my house. I take the bus to school every day with about 35 other kids. So that’s what I’ve been doing and that’s not even all of it.

Think of the future. We all want it to be happy. It would be so sad if there was no oil or fuel when I’m older. We are close to this being a problem. Air pollution is so sad that thinking about it makes it impossible to think all happy thoughts. Air pollution could definitely take someone’s life easily. Soon we will be back to horse drawn carriages. Some people in the future aren’t even going to know what oil gas or fuel is because we are wasting it.
